Devkund

Devkund Water Fall a Beautiful Picnic Spot , which is a part of the Udala division of Similipal Forest Range can be visited via Nilagiri / Udala from Panchlingeswar. It is 90 km from Lulung, 69 km from Kuldiha and 87 km from Balasore. From Balasore there are regular bus services to Udala (59 km). From Udala there are jeeps for going to Devkund at a distance of 28 km. The last 5 km trail is through a dense forest surrounded with hills. The lake formed by a waterfall jumping from a height of 50 ft to the Devkund.

Sami Brukhya

Samibrukhya Hills is located at Debala and is about 63 km distance from Baripada town. Samibrukhya is a vertical rock whose height is about 500 feet. This place is associated with mythology. According to Mythology, the Pandavas along with Draupadi at the time of their Aagyatvas visited this place and hid their weapons in the the branches of this sacred tree. Now this tree is found in Pruthimanikani Hills. There is good communication going to Samibrukhya Hills. 

Kalo Dam

The Kala dam irrigation is located at Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj District. It is 18 km distance from Udala town and 55 km away from the nearest railway station Baripada . The purpose of the Kalo Dam is to store water for irrigation. The Dam Kala is a medium Irrigation Project completed in the year 1982. It is built across river Kalo, intercepting a catchment area of 153 sq. km. The River Kalo is the tributary of river Sono in the Budhabalanga basin. Kalo dam is a picnic sopt near Baripada, Mayurbhanj.

Panchalingeswar

Panchalingeswar Saiva pitha is situated on a hillock with perennial streams falling on five natural Lingas. Its natural beauty attracts nature lovers and visitors. Khiching Temple

Kichakeswari Temple is situated at Khiching village in Mayurbhanj and is 145 km distance from Baripada town. Previously it was the capital of the Bhanja dynasty of Mayurbhanja . Goddess Kichakeswari is the presiding deity of the temple . The temple has an archaeological remains dating back to the Middle Ages that look beautiful and is built entirely of granite. Nilakanthaswar temple is located beside the Kichakeswari. Khiching Mandir is a famous ancient temple in Mayurbhanj.

National Park

Simlipal National Park of Odisha is an exquisite locale for tigers that is located in Mayurbhanj district. This place is surrounded by dense forest and full of varieties of wild animals. Tigers are the main attraction here. Badei Pani

Barehipani waterfall is the highest waterfall in Odisha located within the contour of Similipal Tiger Reserve. The name Barehipani originates from Local name ‘Barehi’ means Ropwhich is how it looks like. The waterfall drops over a wide cliff, in two tiers, ending in a broad pool view. The rolling waterfall drops from a height of 399m (1309 ft.) presents a majestic view with reverberating sound in the gorge from where the Budhabalanga river runs to the plain land. Due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon, causing immense waterflow indicates the lack of vegetation which is evidently visible. The waterfall Barehipani is a major tourist attraction in Similipal attracts lakhs of visitors every year across the globe. A visit to Similipal is incomplete without having a glimpse of the majestic waterfall. The waterfall remains open from 1st November to 15th June for tourists & the best time to visit the waterfall is November till the ends of February.

Similipal Chahala

Chahala is a wild life sighting place inside Similipal national park,generaly deer, peacock,elephant and sambar are seen.Chahala, which is located on the border of the core area of Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Mayurbhanj district, is still struggling to get back on its feet after a Maoist attack in 2009.

The forest personnel live in fear in the dense forest, where solar light is the only means to light up their offices and barracks.

Being close to the core area of STR, animal sightings are more common in Chahala. Elephants too are seen more here. But tourists are afraid of going there because of the 2009 incident. Maoists blasted a beat house, a tower and a forest rest house there that year. The rebels asked tourists, who were staying in the rest house, and the staff, to come out of the house and then used detonators to blow up the structures.

Joranda Waterfall

The Joranda Falls is located in the Simlipal National Park near Dhanaulti in Mayurbhanj district in the Indian state of Odisha.It is in the core area of Similipal national park. The Barehipani Falls is located close to the Joranda Falls.

It is the 19th highest waterfall in India.The Joranda Falls has a total height of 150 metres. The water plunges over a lofty cliff in a single drop, spreading out slightly as it falls. This is the 19th highest waterfall in India. A large number of tourists visit this waterfall to enjoy the tranquil nature and revive themselves of the hectic city life. This spot is both a relaxing and stunning experience.

Similipal National Park Flora and Fauna

An astounding 1078 species of plants including 94 species of orchids find their home in the park. The vegetation is a mix of different forest types and habitats, with Northern tropical moist deciduous dominating some semi-evergreen patches. Sal is the dominant tree species here. The park also has extensive grasslands that are grazing grounds for many of the herbivores. These forests boast of many plants that have medicinal and aromatic properties. 

The park is known for the tiger, elephant and hill mynah. It holds the highest tiger population in the state of Orissa. 55 species of mammals, 304 species of birds, 60 species of reptiles, 21 species of frogs, 38 species of fish and 164 species of butterflies have been recorded from the Park.
